Winter Trend Picks

It's been a while since our last post, but despite our currently busy lives, we always have time for a quick trend report for the upcoming season. Here's our top fashion trends and picks for this Winter. Stay tuned for some street fashion posts next week :)

J+A

1. Felt Wide Brimmed Fedoras - hats are a necessity during the Winter months and now more fashionable than ever with the recent trend of wide brimmed fedoras, Indiana Jones style :) Try keeping them to cool winter tones and neutrals such as brown, black, grey, navy, or oxblood.

2. Oxblood Pants - Oxblood was a popular color trend last Autumn and it carried through to this Winter. Oxblood red pants are more popular than ever and add a pop of color that is appropriate for Fall and Winter. Mix with all black for a sophisticated and fun outfit.

3. Textured Leather Pants/Flannels - this trend combo reminds us of Kate Moss in the best way. Mixing a nice oversized red flannel with a textured pair of leather pants is more fashionable than a simple pair of jeans and changes the entire outfit. Real leather is a tad on the expensive side, so don't shy away from faux leather options from our favorite stores like Zara or ASOS.

4. Shearling Coats - Shearling is as fashionable as it is cozy during the cold Winter months. However, stay away from tan or camel shearling lined coats, as they can look very 70's (in a bad way). Black shearling and suede collar coats can pull together an outfit and provide some texture to an all black look.

5. Plum Lip - We love the plum lip trend this Winter. This was a trend back in the 90s and we remember digging through our Mom's makeup drawer and trying on all of her Bobbi Brown and M.A.C. plum lipsticks. It's a bold hue but not one to be feared. Mix it with natural makeup and a dark outfit for an optimal look.

6. Over the Knee Boots - over the knee is the only way that I like my tall boots. They lengthen the appearance of our legs and look best in a flat-low heel in either black leather or suede. Avoid high skinny heels or a heel height above 2".

7. Winter White - white is a difficult trend to pull of in the winter, but if done correctly can look very elegant. White lace is a huge trend this Fall/Winter and looks best in a nice blouse or dress. If you like the look, focus on looking for a lace dress below the knee for your next holiday party.

8. Cozy Knit Sweaters - no description needed. We live in these over the winter. Large, small, cropped...we don't care. They can be worn with anything and are comfortable, which is key. Our latest favorite look is an oversized sweater paired with a skirt, thigh high stockings or tights, and booties.

9. Winter Pink - this is a new trend for Winter and is a nice play off of the classic "winter white". Stick to very pale pinks and match with either white or black for a fashionable look. Winter pinks tend to look best in sweaters, tops, or coats.

90s Halloween

Happy Halloween!!!

We love this holiday almost as much as we loved the 90s, so in honor of both we've rounded up some fabulous throwback costumes based on our favorite 90s style icons! So if you're in need of a last minute cute costume or want to change your previous idea, we've got you covered.

Hope you have a fabulous and fashionable Halloween!
J+A

1. Classic 90s it-girl, Kelly Kapowski from Saved by the Bell. All you need is a cute crop top, floral mini skirt, giant plastic earrings that only your Barbie would wear, cut-off sweatshirt (remember those?) and a whole lot of hairspray. Oh and don't forget an oversized cell phone to round out the look.

2. THE SPICE GIRLS, no other words are needed. If you and your friends are looking for a fun group costume, go with the Spice Girls. You each get to dress up as your favorite Spice Girl from the past. Our favorite (no shocker) was always Posh and we still think Victoria Beckham is the greatest.

3. If its a couples costume you are after, look no further than the most adorable couple of the 90s (or ever) Cory and Topanga from Boy Meets World. Even though we spent most of our time watching the show wondering why the creators thought to name her Topanga, we couldn't deny that she had the best hair and boyfriend on TV.  For this costume all you will need is a pair of doc martans (with socks), jean vest with white top, patterned skirt (butterflies encouraged) and your soulmate. Sounds easy enough..... Oh and a long honey blonde wig unless you're walking around with the worlds greatest hair (so that narrows it down to Topanga and Jennifer Aniston).

3. So this is our super secret sister costume...but I guess we can share it with you all. Ever since we saw Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, we have been planning on this costume for Halloween. For the best BFF (yikes...this really is a 90s post) costume go to your local thrift store and hunt down some metallic mini dresses, slip on heels, sparkly jewelry, and as much pink fuzz as you can find (boa's are acceptable). Make sure to order the "business woman's special" before you go out and pack post-its in your purse to prove you invented them.

4. Now for the queen bee of the 90s, Cher Horowitz from Clueless! This is one of our favorite movies and a guaranteed best dressed costume because everybody loves Clueless. Find your best plaid mini skirt and best gal pals to dress as Dionne and Tai. For the look, platform ankle strap heels, knee high socks, headbands, and matching plaid blazers will pull the outfit together. Just don't be caught dead without your new designer handbag and flip phone...AS IF!

5. And finally...we save the best for last. They aren't a 90s duo specifically but who cares because they have always been our favorite sister duo. Mary-Kate and Ashley, of course! These girls dominated the 90s tween-style with platform heels, cardigans, patterned shift dresses, butterfly clips, and crimped hair. We copied every style trend they did (the good and the bad). So if you plan on dressing up with your look-alike sister and best friend this weekend, channel your best MK&A from either the past or the present.

Trend Report: Double Denim

Hello Lovelies,

Today marks the beginning of weekly postings we will be doing on upcoming trends for the season. For those of you enjoying the colorful leaves and brisk temperatures of Autumn, we have some amazing new trends that are sure to warm up your wardrobe this season. The first trend of Fall that we will look at is Cool Denim. Unlike the denim trend of this summer, which featured primarily light washed double denim looks, a deep indigo shade of denim is in this fall. Not a huge fan of denim itself? No worries, this cool shade is also popular in everything from leather pants to cozy wool coats. Here are our trend fashion picks at both high and low prices, for whatever you fancy.

Baci,

Fashion icon, Olivia Palermo

Essie "Declare Your Denim"

So get creative and have fun mixing in denim this Autumn, just as long as it doesn't come in the form of your 90's bellbottom overalls...unless your Jennifer Aniston, of course.

Naeem Khan Spring 2014

Good Afternoon, Fashionistas!

It has been a few weeks since our last post and even though life has been a little busy as of late, we have not forgotten about fashion week! This past week in NYC was filled with amazing Ready to Wear shows from fashions biggest names and we got a nice taste of spring. Our favorite of the bunch is tied between Naeem Khan and Oscar De La Renta. We were both floored by the beautiful detail, embellishments and Mediterranean feel of Khan's show. Every piece was more beautiful than we could have imagined and it easily stole the cake for best show of fashion week. So without further ado, here are some of our favorites of Naeem Khan. Stay tuned for our fashion trend round up and Autumn fashion trend guide to come in the next few weeks.
